Performance Opportunites for Students

DRAMA

As a School for the Performing Arts, the act of performing is a vital component in the curriculum for students at all levels. Students are given age and experience-appropriate opportunities to share their talents with an audience. Students are coached in the basics and begin by performing before their peers in a classroom situation. More advanced students take part in weekly recitals and presentations held at the New Brunswick Community College. These events are open to the public. Drama students move out of the classroom to perform in more public venues in the town squares and local theatre stages. Upper level drama students present full length plays in a dinner theatre setting.

CONCERTO - ARIA COMPETITION

Millikin Residency students and Master Class students are also given the opportunity to solo with the St Andrews Festival Orchestra through participating in the juried St. Andrews Concerto, Aria Competition held each summer at the conclusion of the Master Class courses and Millikin University's Summer Residency. The annual Gala Concert showcases the talents of the Summer School's students in a community-wide celebration of the performing arts. Concerto, Aria winners solo with the Orchestra. Special ensembles from the Millikin University Residency performance courses perform as well. This very popular concert is televised throughout the Atlantic provinces.
