Anna Leese
New Zealand born soprano Anna Leese, 27, is completing graduate work in London at the Royal College of Music and at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School. She made her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2007, at the age of 24, where she has appeared in the roles of Micaela in Carmen, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos and Musetta in La Bohème. She has performed at the Opéra Les Azuriales Festival at Cap Ferat, and at the Musique-Cordiale Festival. She soloed in Beethoven's Fantasia in the Last night of the BBC Proms, accompanied by pianist Helene Grimaud, and conducted by Sir Roger Norrington at the Royal Albert Hall. Anna has performed with Andrea Bocelli and toured with Jose Carreras on his 2008 Asian tour. She will be performing with Mr. Carreras again in New Zealand in 2009. Upcoming appearances include singing Tatyana in Eugene Onegin for the New Zealand Opera, concerts in Germany, Belgium and Britain and a return engagement as soloist at the Musique-Cordiale Festival in Seillans, France and at the Linari Festival in Tuscany, Italy. Anna will be making her North American debut as Musetta for the Canadian Opera Company in March 2009.
