Set in the beautiful coastal town of St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada, the Piano Academy and Festival International (PAFI) is devoted to creating an exciting musical environment by bringing in world-class musicians to perform and share their expertise. It offers in-depth and personalized musical experiences and educational opportunities for aspiring young artists as well as general music lovers.

NOTE: All students under the age of 19 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.1. YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM - BY AUDITION:
CONSERVATORY-LEVEL
The PAFI -Young Artist Program is for committed pianists of all ages who seek to perfect their skills, broaden their artistic vision and immerse themselves into an intensive learning environment. The Young Artist Program is selective and open to conservatory-level pianists. A maximum of 20 pianists will be selected as participants based on their audition CD/DVD. The curriculum consists of six piano lessons with renowned artist teachers, master classes, and special hands-on art workshops. In addition to attending all guest artist and gala concerts, students are expected to perform in Young Artist recitals.
PAFI Piano Competition: Young Artist Program participants are eligible for the Piano Academy & Festival International Piano Competition This year's repertoire is Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto in C Minor, Op. 18 to be performed from memory. Contestants may choose to perform all or select movements. An accompanist and a rehearsal will be provided for the competition. The winners will perform with the St. Andrews Festival Orchestra in the Gala Concert, July 13, 2012.
2. ACTIVE OBSERVER - NO AUDITION:
MINIMUM LEVEL MOZART SONATA
If you are passionate about music making, and seek to sharpen your performance skills, you may participate as an Active Observer. You have the opportunity to be instructed by faculty members in three private lessons and to attend all master classes, recitals and special arts workshops. Upon the recommendation of the artist/teacher, you may perform in one of the young artist recitals. An active observer should be comfortable playing traditional classical repertoire at a minimum level equivalent to a Mozart piano sonata. No audition CD/DVD is required.
3. GENERAL OBSERVER – NO AUDITION:
OPEN TO ALL MUSIC LOVERS
Accompanying parents or guardians, who wish to attend master classes must apply as General Observers.
If you are interested in music, and want to expand your artistic horizons, you may participate as a General Observer. It is open to all regardless of age, profession or musical background. You will have the opportunity to observe closely how professional musicians form and present their artistic ideas in the music-making process. You will also be able to enjoy all the group events including master classes, recitals and special fine art workshops.
PRACTICE FACILITY- Practice rooms will be assigned to Young Artist Program Participants (3-4 hours/day) and Active Observers (1-2 hours/day). Additional practice hours are available to all on first-come-first-serve basis.

PROGRAM COSTS
If accepted into the program, all fees including Full tuition and room and board (if applicable) are due on May 1, 2012.Financial aid and scholarships are available for Young Artist Program participants. To be considered please submit a personal statement along with your application.

Program fees: $1080
Room and Board: $250/week

2. Active Observer Program
Program fees: $680
Room and Board: $250/week

3. General Observer
Program fees: $ 320
Housing and meals are responsibility of participant. Housing list will be provided.
NOTE: Room/Board $250/ week (option available for General Observers only if accompanying a Young Artist participant)
